This project involves the construction of two classrooms, an extension to a sports barn and alterations to form a music room. Works commenced 19 October 2009 and is expected to last around 44 weeks.
Neath Block 85% complete, now on fixtures and fittings. Still some external facing brickwork to complete to Sports Barn. Finishing off foundations to Music Room and Library, with steelwork due to be erected next week
Sports Barn roughly 60% complete and on programme. Neath Block also about 60% complete and work is slightly behind programme. Works to new music room and the library extension are scheduled to commence Monday 29 March.
All steelwork now erected to Neath Block and work to lay brick and block work ongoing. Subject to prevailing weather conditions, the steelwork for the Sports Barn should be erected this week. Almost continuous sub zero temperatures, alongwith heavy snow fall, led to some delay in the programme but by allocating extra resources to the project, most of this lost time has been caught up.
All steelwork to Neath Block now in place and work started on blockwork. Weather permitting, erection of the steelwork frame to the Sports Barn will commence on Monday 11th January. Some time lost due to sub zero temperatures and heavy snow.
Work continues to prepare and lay foundations. Weather permitting, the Neath Block foundations should be completed by Friday 11 December and structural steelwork will be erected over that same weekend.
The higest ever recorded rainfall in England, in a 24 hour period, has not suprisingly, delayed work somewhat. Work continues to lay foundations to the Sports Barn and the Neath Block.
Site office and welfare facilities established behind the 6th Form Centre and ground works continuing with lowering the ground level for the Sports Barn extension and re-routing drainage to Neath Block. Works to lay concrete foundations will follow. Heavy and prolonged rainfall has created very heavy conditions underfoot but has not delayed the programme.
This week Stobbarts have begun on site with a site establishment being set up and our supervisor Neil Amor organising and installing welfare facilities
